Description

I was at a party one night when someone suggested they would like a painting of just all men, nothing bluntly sexual or seductive, but that he wanted a painting that reflected his interests. As a quietly gay man, he didn’t want it obvious or to make other people uncomfortable. I thought about it for a while and remembered back to one of my old jobs where I worked for a promotional company that put together Moomba in Melbourne. One of my tasks was to find 50 strong, good-looking men over 6ft. So I called upon the Surf Life Saving association and got exactly what I was looking for. So with this painting the same thoughts came and I put my men in the painting thus no one is the wiser.

Included in this painting is a little touch with Surf Life Saving Caps. Each cap represents a beach of the clients choice…he didn’t know the meaning when I asked for many beach names but upon completing it was a nice touch – thanks to Surf Life Saving Australia for the cap carnival colours from across Australia.
