Description
Jenni & Luke’s wedding… what can I say. This is the most moving wedding I’ve ever had the privilege to paint. For many personal reason for the Bride and Groom which I won’t go into. However this and the wonder friends and family made this commission just that little bit more special. The family and friends were so welcoming and excited about the painting that it was a complete joy to do something special as they all contributed with little stories of the couple that made it easy for me to get to know them. Its rare that I have not consulted with the couple prior to the day and this can make it very hard walking into a venue and such an important day not knowing anything. The wedding was held at Arial on Southbank Melbourne, which is only a new venue and is amazing, with spectacular views of Melbourne’s skyline, the venue was decorated with so many flowers it just looked like a garden in candle light. Then the cake that told the story of their meeting and with the help of Nichole from Arial a picture was starting to form. I sketched something out and by 6:30 when the night was about to begin I was underway. It’s a race to finish by midnight and many times I really want to finish them off in my studio. Many couples are more than happy for me to do that as it just gives me the time to finish up all the ideas and make it just right. Then the painting can be delivered by the time they are back from their Honeymoon.
