Description

Mitre Tavern is the oldest Pub in Melbourne.  Located in Bank Place between Collins and little Collins street it is well hidden from the road in a Bank Place.  I lived in Roeszler Lane which came off Bank Place also for 8 years.

My good friend Greg and many other friends and locals from the area are included in this painting.

The painting originally was done for the owners of the Mitre Tavern but there came a battle over price.  It didn’t bother me as while I was painting it many people showed interest so when things with the Mitre went pear shaped I offered it to the interested.

Greg ended up buying this painting off me for his Son.  Greg passed very soon after as sad Gregs passing was and it was terrible.  I know how excited he was to get this painting be a part of it and give it to his son.

Paintings live with their stories and some get more than others.  The Mitre Tavern Painting has not disappointed.
